Please read before using ScamDetect India.

ScamDetect India is a free, educational cybersecurity tool. We do not store your scans, sell your data, or guarantee 100% accuracy. Use it to protect yourself — not as a legal substitute for professional advice. If you've been scammed, call 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ScamDetect India ("the Service", "we", "our") at scamdetect.in or any associated domain, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations of the Republic of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 ("IT Act") and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 ("IT Rules 2021").

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

ScamDetect India provides AI-assisted tools to help Indian users identify potential scams, phishing attempts, fraudulent UPI handles, malicious URLs, and other cybersecurity threats. Services include but are not limited to:

  • Text scam analysis (SMS, WhatsApp, email messages)
  • URL phishing detection
  • UPI ID and phone number lookup
  • Image EXIF metadata inspection
  • Password strength checking
  • Email breach status checking
  • QR code scanning and analysis
  • Fake job and fake support detection
  • Educational resources (glossary, quiz, scam archive)

The Service is provided free of charge and is intended for personal, non-commercial use by Indian residents and the Indian diaspora.

3. No Professional Advice

The Service provides automated, AI-assisted analysis for educational purposes only. Results are not legal, financial, or law-enforcement advice. We make no representation that the Service will correctly identify every scam or threat.

Do not rely solely on this Service to make financial or legal decisions. If you believe you have been a victim of cybercrime:

  • Call 1930 (National Cyber Crime Helpline)
  • File a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in
  • Contact your bank immediately to freeze transactions

4. User Responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree that you will:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable Indian law
  • Not submit content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or violates any third-party rights
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate requests to the Service in bulk
  • Not use the Service to target, harass, or harm any individual or organisation
  • Not attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls
  • Not submit personally identifiable information of other individuals without their consent

5. Intellectual Property

All content, code, design, branding, and materials on the Service are the intellectual property of CyberRishabh ("the Creator") unless otherwise noted. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.

The Service's open-source components are governed by their respective licences. The AI analysis is powered by Anthropic's Claude API under Anthropic's terms of service.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with or links to third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or reliability of:

  • Anthropic API (AI analysis)
  • Have I Been Pwned API (email breach checking)
  • Google Fonts (typography)
  • External URLs submitted by users for analysis

Use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CyberRishabh and ScamDetect India shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Financial loss resulting from a scam that was not detected by the Service
  • Incorrect analysis results leading to action or inaction by the user
  • Service downtime or unavailability
  • Data loss on the user's device

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

8. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for high accuracy, AI-based analysis is probabilistic and may produce false positives or false negatives. A "safe" result does not guarantee that content is actually safe. A "scam" result does not constitute proof of fraud. Always apply your own judgement and verify through official channels.

9. Prohibited Uses

The following uses are strictly prohibited and may result in IP blocking and/or reporting to authorities:

  • Using the Service to launder, obfuscate, or validate scam content
  • Automated scraping or API abuse beyond normal personal use
  • Any use that violates the IT Act, 2000, or IT Rules, 2021
  • Impersonation of law enforcement, government agencies, or financial institutions
  • Uploading illegal content including child sexual abuse material (CSAM)

10. Service Availability

We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, server issues, or third-party API outages. Check status.html for current uptime.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Delhi, India.

13. Grievance Officer — IT Rules 2021

In compliance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the details of the Grievance Officer are:
